Monday Morning Thoughts
Monday Morning
Some thoughts as the week before us starts; If your a Monday through Friday worker like I am, there's a lot on your todo list. Here are some useful tips I've found to help the work week move along in a more productive manner.
Plan some midweek rest time: that may seem like a given, but as the work week wears on and we start feeling like it's dragging and there's no end in sight. It's a comforting spot to look forward to, to have that Wednesday pick me up. I find a little extra sleep and some sleep sounds from an app that has rain or ocean sounds to help my sleep goal of that 8 to 9 hours gives that much needed help to get through the rest of the week.
If you have set hours for work; plan a personal project that gives you happiness outside of work that gives your life extra meaning. Having a stable job is a very good thing, but to prevent burnout we need to find the happiness in life. That could be anything from the small celebrations of family time to your own quiet time of some form of art. Painting, drawing, writing, or other craft time that helps the mind to quiet down from a busy day. TV can be one of those, but it might not leave you with a complete feeling of rest.
Exercise; this seems obvious right? But are we getting our basic needs met in this area? Walking 10,000 steps a day. Someone told all of us that that is ideal. Can we get that done though? For those of us at a desk job it might not be achievable throughout the work hours, but there is the time when we are not at work that we can incorporate this into our hours of the day. Which leads into the next suggestion.
Waking up a little early a few times a week. If your not an early riser naturally that is. As I started this journey of writing a book. And just for information, I didn't set out to write a book, I only wanted to write some stories to get them out of my head, but back to the subject. I found waking up an hour or so earlier than needed on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday really helped with getting some of my goals in order for what I wanted to get done in my life.
If we can try to incorporate a few of these things into our coming week, we might find that our days don't feel so heavy and burdened with just work, or just family needs. Our emotional life will find it's even keel in creating habits that take care of ourselves. As the old saying goes "If we can't take care of ourselves, who can we take care of?"
I hope you have a wondeful week. Please let me know if any of these ideas helped you, or if you have suggestions that I've missed. See you on Wednesday for the midweek check in, peace!
