Donating plasma
I recently started selling my plasma. And I have to say, it's a really good idea. Did you know giving your plasma can save 3 peoples' lives? And helps reduce your chances of stroke and heart attack? I guess because your getting sodium citrate with it (the anticoagulant) that they give during the process. I've also heard (although I can not confirm at this point) that for some, it will also help with losing weight.
Although starting to sell it does take a bit of work, as there is an interview and small physical everyone goes through to see how your health is and to make sure your body is healthy enough to give. But once your ok'd to do it, the actual giving plasma process is relatively quick (30 to 90 minutes) mine took 45. What I was told that makes it quicker is the squeezing of your hand during the drawing. As the cuff squeezes your arm that is when you should also be squeezing your hand. There was a person next to me during g my first time who was falling asleep and so he wasn't doing the squeezing, I might also mention that his arm wasn't staying set in the most optimal position (because he wasn't paying attention) so although he was taken care of before myself, he left after me. I suppose because he wasn't awake enough to do as they suggest. Of course I can not speak for all donating centers, but the one I am near said I would be getting $50 for the first five times. After that, minus whatever bonuses they provide, I can rely on $200 a month total for my giving if I stay on schedule. Whether I save it for something nice to treat myself with, or use it for day to day needs, I do see the benefit for both sides when it comes to selling plasma on a regular basis. The center that I go to says no more than 2 visits in a week's time. Other thoughts on it; no, not everyone there was homeless, actually all but one of the people who I saw giving were very clean and just regular folk. The facility itself was excellent I would say; very well skilled staff, clean environment, friendly and helpful, and was very law abiding for what they need to be when it comes to this process. At no time was I concerned for my safety or well being. Afterwards though, I was a bit drained. As they said I would be. Beings that it was my first real outing since the snow has melted, it's hard to say if the tired I felt was all due to the plasma giving. Being a housewife now, well it means being a housewife, so not to say that I'm at home all the time, but yes , a good majority of it. So I would say some of my tired might have been dur to being home and not having so much activity lately. But thankfully it's spring, the snow is gone, and I can get out of the house much easier than during winter. I hear this was a harder winter than salt lake city has had in many years. So I will be optimistic about next year, but if it should be like that again, I do know now how to prepare for it, just in case. Boy I went off the subject huh? Ok, well that's my review of the plasma center. If you haven't ever given yours, I hope I helped answer any questions you may have about it. One last bit of info before I let you go. In their information giving time, they said it isn't ok to go to two different places to sell plasma and doing so would put you on the deferral list. Which means you would be denied going to their facility. I guess considering what it takes from the body and recovery time (if I may call it that) chances are you really wouldn't feel like doing that constantly to yourself, but I would guess there are people in circumstances where that might be more of a "necessity"?? I won't speak about that more. I will say, if more money is needed quickly, it would be healthy to find another avenue for that. Anyways, thank you for reading this, I hope you have a great weekend. Sorry I haven't written in awhile, nothing to exciting was happening for me to take your time. Be well, and talk to you soon
